Sunday represents the 60- year anniversary of Jackie Robinson breaking the color barrier. Sadly we continue to live in a society when so-called professionals think the airwaves are a medium to disparage student athletes with sexist and racist comments.

Half smokes, falafel, ice cream and cantastoria...hmmm. ONE celebration took place on March 31 celebrating Sean's birthday and organizing neighborhood equity. ONE DCorganizes believing that neighborhood development should benefit everyone regardless of race, class, or length of residency.

Shamefully, donors raised $4 million for the Libby Legal Defense Fund Trust so far. This amount equals annual private donations to the Children's Defense Fund. Admirably, CDF campaigns for healthcare coverage for the 9 million uninsured children in America.

Obama's candidacy
I support Barak's candidacy hoping it will encourage Blacks to register and vote. Chisholm '72, Jackson ‘84 & ‘88, Sharpton ‘04, VOTE or DIE and now Obama ‘08 represent opportunities for increased voter participation from a historically disenfranchised population.
